New Orleans Inspired Wedding | Carrie & Tommy
Carrie and Tommy are one of the coolest couples on the planet. They own Mr. Paul’s Supper Club - a little piece of New Orleans in Edina, MN.
They really wanted their wedding to be a fun celebration and they came to me with their venues already in mind. The ceremony would be at Carrie’s parent’s house on Lake Minnetonka and the reception would be at their restaurant (naturally!).
The ceremony was kept small and intimate, only immediate family and close friends were invited to the backyard ceremony. Genevieve and hear team at Apricot created the most magical ceremony space covering a knotty old tree with flowers and vines. Kids were kept entertained with bubbles and candy, and adults enjoyed beverages and snacks. After the ceremony everyone was shuttled to Edina for the party, and man what a party it was!
Carrie and Tommy love New Orleans and wanted to incorporate a NOLA tradition, the Second Line. This meant shutting down the streets at 50th & France for our nine piece brass band and 40 guests to parade to Mr. Paul’s Supper Club. We sourced colorful parasols and vintage hankies, both second line essentials. Everyone arrived at the restaurant where the reception was in full swing, it was quite the entrance.
We enhanced the vibe of Mr. Paul’s Supper Club with bright floral, textural linens, and candles. In the outdoor patio space we put up a tent to give guests the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather. One of my favorite details was the ice sculpture seafood tower topped with a fleur de lis.
The venue was beautiful, bright, bold and fun - but the food really stole the show! It was soooo tasty (although that is to be expected when the groom is an acclaimed chef) and no guest left hungry. The cocktails were almost too pretty to drink (almost). We worked with Dahlia to create an epic dessert spread and the most beautiful little wedding cake you ever did see.
Guests danced the night away to an 80s cover band. Carrie & Tommy, can we do it all again?!
